Sides I'd bring to your BBQ

Hi Reader,

Memorial weekend is here, which means it's the unofficial start of summer. And we have the hot weather to prove it -- it's in the high 80's here in Boise! What's your weather like?

My holiday menu consists of grilled BBQ chicken, roasted sweet potato halves, broccoli slaw (this is my #1 go-to!) and blueberry crumble bars.

If I was going to your house for a Memorial Day BBQ, however, I would bring one of the (5) summer side dishes below. They are tried and true favorites, super easy, and worthy of any main dish.

So am I invited? :)

Scroll down for all 5 recipes, and you can also access my entire collection of summer salad recipes here.

There are also TWO new recipes linked below -- they have become fast favorites here!

Hit reply and tell me what you're making this weekend!

Happy cooking!

5 Sides I'd bring to your BBQ

Broccoli Slaw

I've been making this on repeat for YEARS and nobody gets tired of it. It's crunchy, chewy, and completely crave-worthy, and it's tossed in my sweet, tangy coleslaw dressing! My broccoli salad with bacon is a great runner-up.

Corn and Tomato Salad

Sweet, smoky grilled corn is tossed with cherry tomatoes, fresh basil, olive oil and fresh lime juice for a nearly effortless summer side dish! Don't want to grill? Cook fresh or frozen corn in a skillet on the stove top.

Dill Pickle Potato Salad

I loved my mom's potato salad growing up, but this one is so much creamier and fresher tasting! It has a secret ingredient in the dressing, and fresh dill and and crunchy veggies to take it over the top!

Cucumber Tomato Avocado Salad

This is summer in a bowl! It's fresh and vibrant, and tossed in a tangy lemon vinaigrette. This easy no cook salad comes together in 15 minutes. Add the avocado just before serving then watch it disappear!

Lemon Orzo Pasta Salad

This isn't your average pasta salad -- orzo is so much lighter! It's packed with veggies, feta cheese and basil, and it's bursting with fresh lemon flavor. It's easily customized with your favorite pasta and veggies!

Hi Reader, I love experimenting with various types of flours, and almond flour is one of my favorites. It's nutrient-dense, gluten-free, and can be used in baked goods or as a binder substitute for breadcrumbs in savory recipes. Super fine almond flour is best known for giving a light, fluffy texture. Almond meal, on the other hand, contains the almond skins, which are much more dense and a little grainy in texture. For this reason, almond flour cannot be swapped with almond meal. When in...

Greek yogurt ranch

Hi Reader, I always have a tub of plain Greek yogurt in my fridge. It’s creamy, tangy, packed with protein—and it works in way more than just breakfast. It's great in dips and dressings, as a creamy condiment for savory dishes, and it's fabulous in baking. In case you're wondering, my go-to brand is Fage -- they have a Best Self Lactose Free version that I love. Want more options? You can find more inspiration on how to use Greek yogurt here.
