The book every cook should own! πŸ“–πŸ‘©πŸ»β€πŸ³

If there was only one book related to cooking that I could keep, it would be The Flavor Bible by Karen Page and Andrew Dornenburg. I refer to this book several times a week!

I learned about this book in cooking school 10 years ago and I've referred to it several times a week (if not daily) ever since.

What's so special about it?

  • It's a guide to hundreds of ingredients, from fruits and vegetables, dairy, meats and herbs and spices, and it outlines the flavor profile of each ingredient.
  • Under each ingredient, there is a list of ingredients that pair well with that specific ingredient.
  • You'll find a complete list of specific cuisines such as African, Mexican, Asian, etc, and the flavors/foods that are common in each.

With the help of this book, I'm able to create new dishes that bring salty, sour, bitter and sweet flavors into harmony, and I'm inspired to pair new ingredients together every day.

If you love to cook and want to take your cooking to the next level by understanding flavors and how to pair ingredients together, this book is for you!

Meal Plan Subscription Update

I'm sorry to say that there was not enough interest in the Weekly Meal Plan subscription, so I'll be issuing those that subscribed a full refund this weekend.

If you are interested in meal plans but would like them in a different format (for example, monthly or quarterly seasonal meal plans that you can purchase individually instead of a subscription), please hit reply and let me know! I love getting your feedback so that I can better serve your needs.

Happy cooking!

Grilled corn on the cob

Hi Reader, I'm super excited for the Fourth of July. We're going to a barbecue, so I'm going to bring a side...and probably something extra because that's how I am. πŸ˜‰ I'm not sure which dish(es) I'll bring yet though -- I'm so torn! There are too many great options. For me, the side dishes steal the show. Potato and pasta salads, slaws, corn on the cob and cornbread muffins can definitely steal the show, and if you're like me, you're always on the lookout for exciting new recipes. I'm sharing...

American flag no-bake cheesecake

Hi Reader, I'm in disbelief that we're over halfway through June already! I've had summer desserts on my mind A LOT lately (I've been especially craving fruit crisp!), so I thought I'd round up a collection of Fourth of July dessert ideas. They're all festive, they feed a crowd, and they can be made in advance. And there's no reason why you have to wait until the Fourth to make these. It's summer after all and these recipes make the most of it. :) Before we get to those, I've got a new recipe...
