The secret ingredient I use daily

Hi Reader,

There are a few ingredients I always keep on hand because I know they’ll make almost anything I’m cooking taste better.

What's my favorite secret ingredient? Dijon mustard.

It adds a subtle savory, tangy flavor, balances richer dishes, and gives food that little something extra that makes it feel complete. It’s one of those ingredients that doesn’t necessarily stand out on its own, but it has a way of bringing everything together.

Dijon isn’t just about flavor—it also helps with texture. It naturally emulsifies things like vinaigrettes, which is why salad dressings turn out smoother and more cohesive when you add a little.

Delicious Ways to Use Dijon Mustard

Slow Roasted Citrus Salmon

This mouthwatering salmon is slow roasted with a citrus-Dijon sauce. Cooking it at a low temperature is the foolproof way to prepare moist, silky salmon every time!

Balsamic Vinaigrette

This is one of our go-to salad dressings -- it's the perfect balance of sweet and tangy. Dijon mustard emulsifies the dressing and it lends savory depth of flavor that sets it apart.

Sheet Pan Chicken Thighs and Potatoes

These juicy chicken thighs, potatoes and green beans are tossed with lemon, garlic and Dijon and roasted to perfection. It's an easy one pan dinner that's ready in 45 minutes!

Dill Pickle Potato Salad

Dill pickle brine and Dijon mustard keep this dressing lighter and more flavorful than the average potato salad! It has bright, fresh flavor and it will be the highlight of your next cookout.

Slow Cooker Pot Roast

This pot roast is slow cooked with vegetables until fall-apart tender, and the rich gravy is thickened right in the slow cooker. A bit of Dijon mustard takes the gravy from ordinary to extraordinary!

Cheddar Pub Cheese

This pub cheese is creamy, flavorful and made with real cheddar cheese, unlike most store bought brands. It's got savory flavor from Dijon and it's perfect for your next cheese board or game day spread!

Tarragon Chicken Salad

This salad is creamy, crunchy and packed with protein! The mayo dressing is lighter and extra flavorful than usual with champagne vinegar, honey and a few teaspoons of Dijon!

Try this tonight: If something tastes a little flat, try adding just ½ to 1 teaspoon of Dijon mustard and taste again. It’s a small amount, but it can make a big difference.

Do you cook with Dijon mustard? If so, hit reply and tell me your favorite way to use it. I love hearing from you!

Happy cooking!
